cradle me, i'll cradle you

happiness is

finding a pencil.
telling the time.
five different crayons.
having a sister.
sharing a sandwich.
getting along.
walking hand in hand.
catching a firefly.

spell checker

this was too good  not to post.
i love wikipedia. and mah precious, who sent me the link.

Eye have a spelling chequer,
It came with my Pea Sea.
It plane lee marks four my revue
Miss Steaks I can knot sea.

Eye strike the quays and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am write oar wrong
It tells me straight a weigh.

Eye ran this poem threw it,
Your shore real glad two no.
Its vary polished in it's weigh.
m My chequer tolled me sew.

A chequer is a bless thing,
It freeze yew lodes of thyme.
It helps me right all stiles of righting,
And aides me when eye rime.

Each frays come posed up on my screen
Eye trussed too bee a joule.
The chequer pours o'er every word
Two cheque sum spelling rule.

An ordinary spell checker will find little or no fault with this poem. This is because spell checkers can only check if words are spelled correctly, not if the sentence makes sense.

deora!!!:X (got questagged back)

we all know the rules now (since my previous post is oh-so-famous now, right? *rolls eyes*)

'questions take the form of imperatives'

1) post your favourite image in the whole wide world. (so a picture/photo that you adore above all else)

me: how was it? picspam:D
so, either this: (nürnberg. close to where i want to grow up from now:) )

or this one: (close to where i grew up so far)

there must be sth wrong becuuuuz i made both of them. selfesh betch.

2) your first memory. (the first memory you can remember)
me: well i used to think i remembered how i hit my head against a closet one day and bled a lot, but my mom told me i was like 1yr old when that happened.. so what are the odds?... but i clearly remember trying to find my yellow toy car (i was..um... four? five? ..ish...) and eventually, after searching hard in every room (can you remember what frustration felt like at that age? horrible, isn't it?),  finding it in my left hand (which was a stranger to me:P)

3) the song you want people to play at your funeral.
this is too odd, i actually thought about it like a week ago!
aaawkwaaard...
i think it's either 65daysofstatic- retreat! retreat! or  something really really cheerful. i'm being selfish, but i'd rather have 65dos, though everyone at my funeral would probably hate it. i wouldn't like anything sigurrosish (cause i knoooow that's what you were thinking of:P) cause it would depress my family and my veryverynumerous friends (which will be. when i die. cause i'll be popular and stuff:P). 65dos would just freak them out. nothing unusual about that...

4) favourite quote (it can be literary, or non-fiction, or film, or song)
oh. dear. lord.
(that wasn't the quote. wait... yes it i cannot be that easy-going.)
i would quote the whole godspeed you! black emperor- the dead flag blues (and here's a taste of it), but i don't want to push it (right). so here's a tiny part.
i swear i'm not a psycho.

"we're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
and the machine is bleeding to death.

it went like this:

the buildings tumbled in on themselves
mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble
and pulled out their hair

the skyline was beautiful on fire
all twisted metal stretching upwards
everything washed in a thin orange haze

i said: "kiss me, you're beautiful -
these are truly the last days"

you grabbed my hand and we fell into it
like a daydream or a fever"

5) one extraordinary thing you wanna do before you die.
(other than procreate?:P)

i want to teach kids languages (and maybe not only) within an NGO, using different techniques than those i know from the school system here. i want to help them think and become someone as they grow up. ok i want to shape some young grasshoppers into thinking big. is that unrealistic? (hardly:P)

thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!
(deora_mystic you rule!!!)

light tags

on the rules-entry-tags system, here are the rules:)
1. Leave me a casual comment of no particular significance, like a lyric to your current favorite song, your favorite kind of sandwich, or maybe your favorite game. Any remark, meaningless or not.
2. I will respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in your own post.
5. When others respond with a desultory comment, you will ask them five questions.

aaand the questions
toolateforjimmy
 asked (randomly found, randomly answered...)

1) What songs would you listen to if you were in a happy mood and wanted to sing along?
This is definitely The Dresden Dolls- The Jeep Song. i actually started singing this while waiting to get in an exam room to cheer up a friend:D... aaaand 'heart it races' by Architecture in Helsinki, and Peter, Bjorn & John - Young Folks

2) What do you enjoy reading more books or magazines?
What is this 'magazine' you speak of?... books. yep, yep, books.

3) What films do you like that people you know don't get/like?
i think 'my people' don't really like the depressive/sick-ish movies i sometimes watch. but mostly we synchronize.

4)If you had to learn a language you don't currently know what would it be?
Probably Dutch. i tried to, but had to give it up (cause it was taking my precious time away from me, to faraway lands and and and...). still, german is the coolest!

5)If you had to learn one instrument what would it be?
that is easy, little grasshopper!
it would be the violin. or the cello. ordrumsorguitarorpiano.
probably violin, as geeky as that may sound... *le sigh*

Auslandssemeter (Semester abroad)

Here's an extract from a news article i found in one of my numerous (2) German newspapers. If anyone could enlighten me as to what the last sentence means (though i do have a vague clue.. what i mean is i need the actual English translation) i would be most grateful.
Deora? care to give us a hand?:D:P

"Auslandssemester

\:D/ i'll show you!:D (very very busy)

after a fight talk with mah precious and after many many hours minutes of self-pity and all i went outside to smoke and think about "what we've done". the topic was my ability to study hard enough so as to pass my university exams well AND to pass my DAF exam this june. the conclusion was, of course, that i lack motivation and i will probably not do it.
before ciggy: and i cry, ohmygod do i cry, and then i pout and go out feeling miserable.
during ciggy (which has obviously become a temporal label. humor me here)
turn on mp3player, listen to Kante- Die Tiere sind unruhig and chill. get a bucket of energy splashed in a few minutes. back in full throttle.
after ciggy: change yahoo messenger status to "\:D/ i'll show you!:D (very very busy)", rebel against everyone who thinks you can't do it and do it!
what follows: a lot of german, and words posted on my wall, and colours, and underlining, and a sea of dictionaries all over the floor and and and. enthusiasm again. i love adrenaline who's with me?!

deutschdeutschdeutschdeutschdeutschdeutschdeutsch

enthusiasm, enthusiasm, where were thou, enthusiasm?
it's amazing how fast some events are. already had 5 exams, next one's on tuesday... and i am surprisingly confident (though i just might have jinxed it right now...)
i'm walking on sunshine again. i had the most wonderful talk with a friend the other day, who's just as desperate with learning french as i am with german... so we planned to study together, so that we can poke one another if we start to daydream (which we both do compulsively) and to AVOID procrastination... yes obv i have to be on a leash (mentally, natürlich) so as not to go astray. uf.
pluuuuuuuuuuus
it was the 18th of january a few days ago... which means exactly ten months with mah precious. happy:D
in other news, i met my friend yesterday and we had a great time studying (i can't believe i just wrote that). i translated, we had hot tea in this hot-tea-and-books place (carturesti)... and then went to a pub called Bierhaus where surprisingly (?) the waiter knew german and helped me a bit:)) that was fun. on the down side, mah precious is convinced it's horrible to study in pubs, and it took me too much energy to explain i was only doing the tedious work there (that is, translating my courses), and the actual try-to-remember process will be taking place at home, in silence and solitude. nevertheless, i am pleased. i was productive yesterday and i intend to be productive today, as well (right after i'm done with cleaning up my room and with the English session...) (or maybe i can work a bit before that?...)
anyway, i'm still enthusiastic, and i intend to stay that way and do great in german! arghhhhhhh!!!!!

Dec. 14th, 2007

oh great day of useless productive activities :D

i have just finished cleaning my room (which, if you know me the tiniest bit, should set off a national celebration throughout china. or an apocalypse) because there will be some strangers passing by here today (it is the monthly heating-devices-must-be-looked-closely-at-to-see-how-much-heat-you-have-used day)...
in other news:
today is the day of past tenses. which means i now have to google ahead through endless pages of english grammar to get theoretical about how and when and bla to use the past tense. and then... exercises:D
i'm glad you ask why (little people in my head on riot again, don't mind me)
i have a student. hurray for me. he's 35 and he needs english for a job interview (january, february, something)... and oddly enough he likes our classes. last time he had plans of us being student-teacher for another 2-3 years or so.. should i tell him i don't plan on sticking around for so long?...
oh and his name is William :/
(i repeated this sentence over and over in my head and it just cracks me up: i am teaching william english.)
ok he's hungarian but nevermind. out of the context it's just great. makes me feel empowered mwahahaa:D

next in line: i promised him i'd watch a movie (blade runner) and i still haven't got to do that... and i soo don't feel like it...
in other other news:
my room:D (yes, this is clean) and myyy room
apparently those were the "medium-sized images". right. and lamely i can't really store photos (rookie, n00b -hate this word- whatever:P)

ps. it's snowing! !!i'm gonna go out and smoke in the snow for the first time this year yay hyperventilating OH MY G.... *crashes*
